80 artists
were invited by Matthew Higgs to fill in a form consisting of seven
numbered, blank lines.
My seven wonders
brought together seven standout moments in the history of ultraviolent
movies and seven artists with prestigious exhibitions at the time
of compiling the list.
My seven wonders,
then, were fictional accounts of prominent contemporary artists inserted
into some of the most harrowing scenes in the history of the cinema.
Amongst other
things, this little project brought high and low together in a violent
detente. By turning the artists into the victims of ultraviolence,
the pop attitude in post-60's art was inverted, so that it was no
longer art that had the upper hand.
